Taylor Morrison Debuts First Community in DFW After Darling Homes Acquisition

Waterford Point at The Tribute Targets Active Living

(February 27, 2017--The Colony) Matthews Southwest announced today that Taylor Morrison, a leading national builder and developer, has debuted its newest village in The Tribute Lakeside Golf & Resort Community, located in The Colony, Texas. This is one of only two Taylor Morrison branded community in the DFW market since acquiring Darling Homes in late 2012. The grand opening of its sales center and four models began on February 11th in Waterford Point with homes from the $330s. The village targets buyers seeking anactive lifestyle in an established resort community.

"Taylor Morrison is a natural fit for The Tribute,” said Jack Matthews, president of Matthews Southwest and the developer of The Tribute. “Many of the homes in Waterford Point will be situated along the lakefront on the west side of the peninsula and Taylor Morrison has created beautiful designs that embrace the vision and high standards of our community.”

Waterford Point will offer 405 homes with 109 in the first phase. Four distinct collections of single-story homes feature spacious family rooms and kitchens, vaulted ceilings and outdoor living areas, as well as guest suites and optional second story bonus areas in the larger floor plans. Jack Matthews Announces First Annual Dick Butkus Golf Classic

(April 18, 2016 – The Colony, TX) Jack Matthews, President of Matthews Southwest and well-known developer throughout the D/FW Metroplex, announced today the first annual Dick Butkus Golf Classic, on April 22, 2016 at Old American Golf Club in The Colony. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Butkus Foundation.

Matthews, the Tournament Chairman, has known the Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker for nearly ten years and wanted to help create an event to support The Butkus Foundation, a non-profit 501-c3 private corporation created to advance health and wellness. “When I heard they hold a golf tournament in California to support this cause, I thought it would make sense to expand the reach with a tournament in Texas. Especially since we have access to such an exceptional golf course, and there are just so many civic-minded people in this area. I’m personally really inspired by what The Butkus Foundation does for kids, and teaching them how to be involved and take ownership of their own health and well-being. Matthews Southwest Announces the Grand Opening of its Newest Phases in The Tribute

(April 6, 2016 – The Colony, TX) Matthews Southwest, the developer of The Tribute Lakeside Golf & Resort Community, announced today the opening of two new phases in the community.

With 50’ x 120’ and 60’ x 120’ lots, Phase 2 of Stonehaven is surrounded by U.S. Army Corps of Engineer property, green space and nature trails on one side, and canals and common areas on the other side. Meritage Homes offers a wide variety of one- and two-story floorplans ranging in size from 2,300 to 4,000 square feet of living space, with elevations designed specifically for this Village in The Tribute. Meritage’s Lantana model home in The Tribute won the 2015 McSam Award for Best Architectural Design for a home with a sales price between $325,000 and $375,000. Their Zinnia model home in The Tribute also won a 2015 McSam Award for Best Interior Merchandising for a home with a sales price between $425,000 and $500,000. The prestigious McSAM Awards are presented by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Dallas Builders Association in recognition of significant and creative contribution in residential marketing.

Meritage is currently in close-out mode in Phase 1 of Stonehaven, with only 15 build opportunities remaining on the 50’ lots. Phase 2 offers 62 lots which are already selling rapidly, with 22 remaining on the 50’ lots and 30 on the 60’ lots.

Offered exclusively by Reflection Homes, Phase 2 of The Gardens recently released 27 60’ x 105’ and 50’ x 105’ lots, some backing up to canals and green space, and all with close access to the trail system. Taylor Morrison Enters Dallas/Fort Worth Market with Lot Purchases in The Tribute

(March 21, 2016 - The Colony, TX) Taylor Morrison, a leading national builder and developer, is bringing its trusted home plans to the Dallas market with the recent purchase of lots in the The Tribute Lakeside Golf and Resort Community.

The builder, which recently ranked highest in trust in the Lifestory Research America's Most Trusted™ 2016 Home Builder Study, closed on 549 lots in The Tribute.

Taylor Morrison plans to begin development in the second quarter of 2016, with a plan to open in early 2017. The new village in The Tribute will offer an active lifestyle community with single-level patio homes, lakefront views and a proposed lakefront amenity center.

New Water Tower in The Tribute Serves Growing Peninsula

(October 22, 2015 —The Colony, TX) The Colony unveiled its $2.4 million elevated water storage tank with an unlikely celebration – a friendly water fight between developer executives and city administrators.

“Being out here beneath this new tower with our friends from Matthews Southwest is just a perfect example of how The Colony continues to enjoy success with all of our recent growth, both in the residential and commercial sectors.” said The Colony Mayor Joe McCourry.

“This tower was part of our 2010 water plan to accommodate expansion in the area,” continued McCourry. “It was built on property that the city owns, which was donated by the developer Matthews Southwest, and lessens the demand on the city’s other three water towers.” 

Funds from The Tribute Tax Increment Financing District, which the city council approved in 2013, paid for the cost of constructing the tower and did not impact property taxes. Matthews Southwest, the developer of The Tribute, a master-planned community located in The Colony’s Wynnwood Peninsula, financed the cost of construction of the tower on behalf of the city to speed up the construction timeline. Continue reading.
